I've wondered if any economists have figured some ratio of garbage prices to the number of people who illegally dump trash. The small town I'm from has private haulers and you either had to buy a sticker for your bag or buy special bags. When the prices went up last year, and it was small $12 - 30 a year, the trash dumped seemed enormous. The local paper has an anonymous letters page. The hate that was spewed against the trash companies, you'd have thought they'd gold plated their trucks and were lighting cigars with $100 bills. The recycling program is run by the county. You have to take your trash to the bins. The county saw a drop in volume after the garbage prices increased. No obvious reason for it. Kevin Tarr Trump high, lead low
