Personally, I can't wait for someone to invent the Wayback Machine (TM) so
we can see what actually happened.
Chances are, the final version of the second amendment was agreed at about
4am one morning after hours and hours of to and fro discussion, aided by a
dram or three of the good stuff, the night before the last possible moment
it could be got to the printers.
