No, I don't SCA. I have friends who do, and from what I've heard from
them, I don't think it's quite my thing. :)
One of my blades is a Klingon knife I picked up at a Worldcon a few years
ago. (I guess 4 years ago, and I'm still in touch with the guy who sold
it to me.)
My latest acquisition is a ninja sword we got at AggieCon -- the blade is
a little shorter than the katana I was originally drooling over, and I was
looking for something I could wield in a pinch. The one thing about the
ninja sword that I don't like as much as I'd like a katana is that the
ninja sword blade is straight, which makes drawing it a little harder than
drawing a katana out of *its* sheath. My husband Dan has a good katana.
(In fact, most of the *swords* around here are his. I'd been going in
more for the knives.)
We just got a Bud K catalog yesterday, and I drooled a little bit over a
couple of things there. I don't think we'll be ordering anything really
soon -- we've just blown a bundle on baby things, and Dan's getting me a
new computer for our anniversary later this month. So the sharp pointy
things will have to wait awhile....
