It may be. I think Isaiah writes about God's desire for Israel to be a
light unto the nations, and listening to some of America's more Biblically
fixated rhetoriticians, you'd think that America is the Israel Isaiah
foretold.
On the other hand, I'm pretty sure (not 100%, though) that the musical
_Camelot_ refers to Caemlot as a shining city on the hill, meant to be a
metaphor for Kennedy's America. I think there's a line about how Camelot
was, for one brief moment, a SCotH--but I don't have an exact quote at
hand.
Both could be true, of course, with Camelot referencing the image in
Isaiah....
