I can tell a Brooklyn accent from a Boston accent, and a Maine accent is
easily distinguishable. I can tell if a person is from the northern states
like Minnesota or North Dakota (though it's often troublesome to tell them
from Canadians) It's easy to pick out a Southern accent, though there are
variations on that one - I think if I was good at it I'd be able to tell if a
person was from Texas or not. What I have trouble with is telling the
difference between other Anglo accents - English, Aussie, South African, and
New Zealand to name a few. Does anyone have any pointers that would help
easily distinguish these dialects?
