A point of clarification -- the Pat Robertson comments on the chances of
convicting Clinton that I referred to earlier turn out to have been made Jan.
20, during the trial in the Senate and not beforehand, as I had mistakenly
recalled.
I will root around online some more, but frankly I'm not hopeful of finding
any public statements, pre-trial, by GOP reps or senators regarding the
implausibility of convicting Clinton. After all, they'd have a hard time
justifying voting for impeachment if they admitted beforehand that it was a
farce!
I may be able to find some commentary by conservative analysts, though.
We'll see.
