So you insist that we must believe the Republicans are telling the truth when 
they say they acted on principle, yet insist we must _not_ believe the 
Democrats are telling the truth when they say they acted on principle.

And your reason is that it's clear to everyone -- namely, you -- that the GOP 
did  the right thing, while the Democrats did the wrong thing.

But partisanship has nothing to do with it.
