Can you provide any evidence that this nation's food supply is in 
such danger as to require significant additional spending, beyond 
that proposed by the Republicans?

Also, remember there are two questions here:
1) The Democrats have expended a great deal of effort as of late 
portraying themsevles as the Party of fiscal responsibility, in 
particular, condemning *any* attempt to spend surplus Social Security 
and Medicare taxes on anything other than debt reduction.  So, do the 
Democrats agree that there is non SS/Medicare money available for 
additional spending, on agriculture, or the military, etc.?   Or, 
have the Democrats changed their position.

2) Do agricultural subsidies provide a benefit to the nation 
sufficient to offset the cost of the subsidies themselves, plus the 
higher food prices borne by consumers, especially consumers?
