Ok. I'm aware that I have an evil sense of humor. I didn't mean to hurt
anyone. I hope that everyone will stay on the list. I do.
Except the overly sensitive ones. And the insulting ones. And the
ones who always post long, boring essays. And we could do without the
ones that post outrageous claims without supporting evidence. Those
environmentalists are annoying, too. And the arrogant people that always
defend the US, they've got to go. And those detestable, worthless
lurkers. After we get rid of all the undesirables, then I'll only have
to debate with the people who are like me.
Wait a minute, why would I want to talk with myself, I'm boring,
arrogant and insensitive! What? Well, I'm just going to leave the list
because I can't put up with this sort of treatment anymore.....
Uh, you almost tricked me there. You can't get rid of me that easy! You
think that by insulting me and threatening me you can get me to
leave! I'm going to call a lawyer to take care of you! And if that
doesn't work, I'm going to tell my Mom to join the list and then you'll
really be sorry!
Ahem, yes, well, I'm incorrigible. But I really don't mean any harm. I
don't. If I caused any harm, then I offer my sincere condolences, er, I
mean apologies. There I go again!
I don't know, call me crazy but I would like to see something like this:
J: Oh, I didn't mean to threaten. Sometimes I get carried away and write
things without thinking through all of the possible consequences of what
I wrote. I would never get lawyers involved over an email debate, that
would be ridiculous. I apologize, please don't leave.
Z: That's perfectly understandable. I shouldn't be so sensitive and
attribute evil motivations to people when it is more likely just a
failure to communicate clearly.
J: I know what you mean. I get so upset when people misinterpret what
I say. But it's been happening a lot lately. Maybe I should be more
careful with what I write to try to prevent it from happening again.
Z: You just gave me a good idea. In that spirit, I'll try to understand
what people meant to say rather than getting upset and threatening to
leave.
J: And while we're at it, let's see what we can do about E and his
insensitive, holier-than-thou, evil sense of humor.
Z: Good idea. [puts arm around J] He's such an arrogant ass Let's see if
we can rile him up a bit. Maybe if we....
D: But that isn't funny. Someone could get hurt!
Everyone: OWWWWWW! Ouch! OWWWWWWW!
