 There might very well be something in the store for the museum of
 American History and Technology; there might also be something at the
 gift shop at the Lincoln Memorial.  But Doug's not in DC.  I don't know
 what they have online.
 
 I've got a cousin that might be able to recommend a book, I've just
 asked him. He's big on both the Civil War *and* maps, so he's a logical
 person to ask.  :) I'll report back any recommendation he makes.

Actually I found quite a bit on line through the Smithsonia site, even a 
depiction of the statue on top of the Capitol (I had recalled it had been 
designed by the same guy as the Statue of Liberty and wanted to see the 
significance of the shield/sword, etc).  I found that and a depiction of the 
Capitol dome painting of George Washington at the site with a little digging. 
 Some of it may have been in the education area, IIRC
