I'd just like to point out that this is in direct contradiction to your
earlier postings on this List.

You have previously suggested that anyone who would dare launch a nuclear
weapon at the United States would fear our immediate nuclear reprisals.

You now argue that it would be irrational for us to use our nukes in
retaliation.  I happen to agree.

As many as 50,000 Americans died today.  At this point we have no idea who
launched these cowardly attacks, so I will refrain from the moment for
speculating on possible reprisals.   But believe me, China's and Russia's
veto in the UN Security Council will have absolutely no effect on our
choice of reprisal.
This really is a second Pearl Harbor, and I only hope that we may find an
appropriate response.
