So basically, the Yankees are ok it their fans (as in me) who are the problem.
Lets get things straight. I inherited my Yankee fandom memetically from my Dad. I have
been with them through thick and thin.
The stuff here is a light hearted joke.
Yankee fans do not go around calling themselves "America's Team". (The term Yankee
says it all - we are america).
For the most part Yankee fans are pretty civil. If you listent to WFAN you will have
to admit it the METS fans who are crazy. Piazza has a bad game and they want to dump
him. They crazy in their hatred of the Yankees.
This particular Yankee team is actually one of the most enjoyable group of athletes I
have ever had the pleasure to root for. They are complete professionals. No temper
tantrums. From their stars (Jeter, Williams, Rivera) to their role players they seem
like good folks. They win as a team. They have excellent pitching and just average
hitting. Although they have clearly imported the best that money can buy, it is also
clear that the core of the team was home grown or traded for in the old fashioned way
(for talent).
Go Bombers!
