I agree with this.  Numbers are only a part of what it takes 
to be a great player.  There are some players that will post 
great numbers for their entire career but never win 
anything.  Then there are players that seem to turn a team 
around - win time after time.  Zim keeps bringing up the 
attitude of the Yankees, the clubhouse.  They play together 
as a team.  You can see the same thing in the A's clubhouse, 
they have really gelled in the second half.  Yet in the 
past, the Yanks have put together teams that should have 
crushed everyone in sight, but won nothing.

I'm not saying that numbers, or how you play the game 
(stress OBP, not average etc. etc.) aren't vital to success, 
but if you have one or two divisive players in the clubhouse 
and those players happen to be the stars, you're chances of 
winning go down the toilet.
