None of those worked. And I had already checked the obvious ("Make sure
there are no problems with the printer (like out of paper / paper jammed /
out of ink), etc. Make sure the printer in 'on-line'.") However, the
other suggestions ("Check the cables. Turn the printer off and on.") did
the trick.

Umm . . . guess who is considered the closest thing to an IT guy around here?

Unfortunately, what I needed at the time was to print out the syllabus that
was in the computer in time to get it copied prior to the start of class,
and there was not enough time remaining to find the typewriter (a
Smith-Corona manuel model from the early 70s), retype it, the make copies
from an old one and literally cut and paste in the items that cannot be
created on a typewriter, thus my call for help . . .
