It may not be true at all. I know plenty of people who have fully assimilated mainstream American culture who still celebrate Mexican holidays and practice Mexican traditions. Add to that that I also know some Americans (anglo types) who celebrate along with them. I think in the most reactionary extremes of the multiculturalist movement, there is the idea that things shouldnt change or that change is bad. Change is inevitable. xponent rob
