Indeed, there are highways in the western United States that have corregated strips in them that make a loud noise when you travel over them. Too many drivers were found to drift off when the drove straight for 20 or 30 miles without seeing another car. These strips tend to keep folks awake. On such a highway, I could easily drive 160 km/h safely...as long as I didn't drift off from the sheer bordom of it. With the relatively low population in Australia, I bet you have even more of them.
