I for one like your posting style, Dan (well, I get bored by the
philosophical stuff, I prefer more practical stuff, but I just skip over
the stuff that bores me). My favorite of your posts are the ones where
you give detailed examples and supporting evidence. You present your
ideas clearly, and seem to be open to hearing other ideas. I don't think
it is unreasonable to expect that if someone wants to discuss something
with you, that they at least put in some effort to reply to your
specific points or evidence. I do think it is unreasonable for people
to try to convince you to change your style because you are somehow
slighting them or hurting their feelings because they are intimidated
by your high quality posts. If they feel that way, they should simply
not read your posts. I would miss it if you changed your style. You
can't please all of the people all of the time. (Although if it bothers
you, I suppose you could include a shallow, "executive summary" at the
beginning of your long posts and the mind-numb people can stop reading
after the summary)
