Why invent a new definition of bash?  I searched a number of on line
dictionaries, and found their definitions to coincide with mine.  One sample
is from

Informal. To criticize (another) harshly, accusatorially, and threateningly:
"He bashed the... government unmercifully over the... spy affair" (Lally
Weymouth).
