I remember when TPM came out, a lot of Jews thought Watto appeared to be a 
stereotype of a Jewish shopkeeper or too similar to Fagin.

On the one hand, these are _aliens_, guys! On the other hand, since we don't 
know any real aliens, it's hard not to make them like the humans we do know.

By the way, Star Trek keeps making its Klingons too much like stereotypes of 
evil nasty Klingons, too.
