Man, I'm tired. I completely didn't get that until you mentioned it. :-) That's pretty funny. I wonder if "Yoda" means anything in Arabic. *grin* (I haven't seen the movie yet, btw.) Why didn't the article mention that? > > If I may ask... how many of you that _don't_ have a problem > > with Jango > > Fett's character _did_ perceive a problem with Jar Jar Binks > > character (or > > that of the Trade Federation members) in TPM? > >I saw the problem with Jar Jar, but not the Trade Rep until it was >pointed out to me (I still don't buy either argument; Lucas gets >skewered because of his visibility as much as his content) I agree with your last sentence. I think these people are just looking for trouble and finding it. But I do wonder if they were an American group that usually has a legitimate problem being portrayed with stereotypes (Gays, Blacks, etc.,) if their cause would be mocked/waved away so quickly. In your opinion, is a possible stereotype by Jango more of a stretch than that of Jar Jar? (I'm asking as someone who hasn't seen the movie yet.) I remember looking at Jar Jar when I saw TPM and thinking "uh oh." I didn't think the character was a great choice, myself. I didn't have or notice a problem with the Feds before it was pointed out. But I think the Jar Jar similarity was pretty obvious, myself.
