Bullshit. You organized it, even if you didn't intend to, by choosing a
list of people, creating a mailing list, not telling them that it was an
exclusive list, and not asking everyone to keep the discussions on that
list to only basic test matters (or telling everyone that the test list
would be digestified and posted to the main list every day). Negligence
or intent, the result was an organized discussion ("emergent system" :-)

There is a big difference between a personal discussion between a few
friends and what you, intentionally or unintentionally, set in motion.
