As in the preview pane of Eudora -- have to actually open the message
for it to show. As I prefer reading mail in the preview pane (so I can
see information about the next couple of messages while I'm reading it),
it hasn't been an issue for me.

Buried somewhere in PINE v. 4.44; I get a little thing at the bottom of

I have the same stuff in the messages for the other high-traffic (i.e.,
100 posts a day not unheard of, 20+ very common) list I'm on. I haven't
heard anyone complain there, and people complain more voceferously there
about things like that than we do here. (They're also quicker to
apologize there, which is just as well, since many of them see many
others in RL a *lot*, and it's pretty rotten to show up for something
fun and find that 5 of the 15 people you're supposed to be having fun
with are pissed off at you.)
