You can delude yourself all you want, but it says 
'father to Joseph'.

A.  This isn't even the biggest contradiction.  Just wait.  I will write
about a few of the more interesting ones.

B.  The gospels weren't written as one history they were written as
stories by different people, and later people put them together, rewrote
them.  First came mark, which was already a gestalt.  Then luke which
used mark as a starting point, and then matthew.
