So I gathered.  I was just trying to point out that in America "blackness"  
(i.e. racial/cultural authenticity and solidarity) has long been about
much more than the bare facts of pigmentation and ancestry.  What happened
to Nelli is depressing and bitterly ironic, but not very surprising.

(Contrariwise, one would hardly expect an African-American who went to an
African nation to be considered a "real African" by the citizens there --  
his language, expectations, mannerisms, etc. would be all wrong.  No more
than I, being white and having watched too many BBC sitcoms would expect
to be treated as a "real Englishman" were I to visit London.)
