What happens if you use the reduced-lactose milk?  Does that help any?
I've only tried Lactaid-brand reduced-lactose milk, and
didn't like it at all. I'd rather drink regular milk
and take lactaze enzyme pills (where the enzymes work
in the stomach and small intestines) than drink the
pre-digested stuff :-) Plus, I'm not one of those people
who find soy to be bitter, and I really do like the taste
of Chai better with soy than with milk of any variety.

Of course, I also eat wheat chex with apple juice instead
of milk, so you *know* my taste buds are weird...
