Which brings me to something I have always pondered. It concerns the structural safety of space shuttles, and specifically, of the shuttle's cockpit.we have never had a problem during reentry - not ever, and we literally have no data on what this could be. We don't even think about reentry failures seriously, as there just has never been even a small issue.Gautam
Does anyone out there think that there would be a practical solution to, say, isolate the cockpit in such a way that it can withstand these type of emergencies from the rest of the shuttle?
I always like to think that nothing is impossible. It may take re-designing the shuttle architecture, but isn't it about time somebody came up with an idea to save the astronauts or at least help preserve their bodies and the data in the cockpit in case of an emergency of this nature? It would certainly make a difference.
Just a thought..
