All *I* know is that some of them are unemployed, but the way unemployment
insurance works, their benefits aren't really coming out of *my* pocket,
anyway. (And any benefits based on any forms *I* had to fill out and any
checks *I* had to write on behalf of my employer are long expired. I
don't think we ever had any layoffs, either.) Those who haven't run out
on unemployment, anyway. And some of those who have are too busy trying
to make a buck on an odd job to make more than half the protests, if even
that many.
Now, the ones who are students at the state-run university, those are a
different matter entirely, but I figure I can avoid the immediate vicinity
of the UT campus for awhile. (The last time I was there was for Sammy to
participate in a developmental psychology experiment, and I know a way to
*that* building that avoids the places most likely to be blocked by
protesters, at least *getting* there. The way out again might be a little
more problematic.... Although, you know, I could always go *north* on
Guadalupe....)
