Furthermore, the actual political entity with which we'd entered into the
treaty in the first place no longer existed. In a way, maybe it's going
to turn out to be good for *Russia* that we initiated the pullout, so they
get out of it and we get all the flak. (Maybe.)
Not that I'm necessarily *happy* about what happened to the treaty, but it
was all legal and aboveboard, just really, really didn't *look* all that
good.
