Off the top of my head:
-Toppling the regime of Saddam Hussein
-Restoring Civic Order
-Preventing Mass Civilian Casulaties

I'm sorry Tom, but before the war did you say that building a democracy in
Iraq in seven weeks would be easy? If not, given that building a
democracy in Iraq is proving exactly that - not easy, why are you so quick
to blast the Bush Administration for exactly what you predicted.

The top marine in Iraq says that he has had plenty of troops to search all
of the likely sites.

This is inaccurate. It was to prevent Saddam Hussein from using the WMD's
he had against primarily us, and secondly against his neighbors - and also
to prevent him from developing any more WMD's. Moreover, in my mind, the
liberation of 38million oppressed people, the establishment of Western
Civilization in an Arab country, and the elimination of Hussein's military
threat - leading to the ability to remove our garrisons in Saudi Arabia are
all *equally* important reasons. Just because you somehow think that
"finding WMD's" was quote, "the point", doesn't make it so. As
Wolfowitz recently noted, there are a difference between the
legal/bureaucratic reasons and the moral/strategic reasons for this war.
