Some people just have to do that man, they just can't help themselves, and
you have to give it up when they are right, but they do have a tendency to
keep pushing to the point that it becomes more about them being right and you
being wrong than it is about their information being right and your's being
wrong.
You know it's all an ego trip for them because they won't just let people
squirm away from their mistakes. They keep going past the point that everyone
has gained an understanding of why what was wrong was wrong. They have to
take it to the point of making a public spectacle. The funny thing is, it
usually just makes them look like a bully, because everyone else can see that
the originator of the information knows he is wrong, and that he is just
trying to admit defeat with a little dignity. It makes them look dishonorable
because an honorable person would stop when he had won.
But you know what, I try and give these people the benefit of the doubt as
well. Maybe they are just so fact focused that they don't understand when
they have actually "won" and argument and are still working under the
assumption that the squirming away is still "in game".
I know I have a hard time seeing when the game is over when I am not a
spectator.
