I never paid much attention to Barbie issues, but I suddenly realize I have a daughter now who will likely one day be wanting a host of Barbie dolls, Barbie beach houses, Barbie Corvettes, etc. So I'm curious, why do you wish to deprive your daughter of all things Barbie? I take it your parents didn't let you have Barbie dolls, either? Were you traumatized at the time?

I had a mother-in-law who volunteered at a charity thrift shop, so she got first pick of all the stuff coming in.
We had quite a collection of bits and pieces, most of which have now been donated back to the charity shop.
Still have a really cool campervan and a jeep in the play room, but they'll soon be passed on to my niece.
(My oldest daughter is 20 and my youngest daughter 13, so Barbie's are behind us now).
