I imagine that the term is offensive, because it reminds us of a time when Humanity was split into Four Races: whites, blacks, yellows and reds. Curiously, here in Brazil it's ok to name things for black, but not for other pseudo-races, like a musical group called "Raa Negra" or a magazine called "Raa". Oh, it's also ok to discriminate against heterosexuals, like a night-club called "Le Boy" [with a twin called "Le Girl" - or some other horrible barbarism]. But I imagine that these problems here are minor compared with the wars you have in the USA... [another curious phenomenom: my daughters' classmates make lots of jokes which would imply that they were gay; these jokes would be unthinkable when I had their age, when calling someone gay was one of the higher offenses] Alberto Monteiro _______________________________________________ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l
