That's so true, IMOADTAE. I don't know how many CS PHD's I have 
worked with, who are compleatly clueless when it comes to designing 
good software. I know this one guy who has his PHD in Physics, but 
could not even discuss GR with any acuracy. Not supprisingly he works 
as a Project Manager at a software firm.

But I wonder if this is not a modern occurance. At Lincon's time, 
credentials were much harder to get. (not withstanding being the 
ofspring of someone prestigious). Still, is this not generaly a more 
recent issue?
