I finally went to see _Hidalgo_, which I enjoyed very much -- horses, horses, and more horses! There were obvious Hollywoodisms, and a bit of Disneyesque preachiness, but the basic story is interesting: former Army Scout and his mustang (already champion endurance racers in the US) go to the Middle East to race 3000 miles against the desert's best (Arabians, and I suspect some Barbs and Turkomenes or Ahkel-tekes). I'll have to find out more about the lead character, Frank Horton, who was an early defender of the American mustang, and according to the credits died in the '50s. Hidalgo's bloodline is apparently ongoing in an Oklahoma mustang herd.
A couple of weekends ago I saw Sarah Brightman on her 'Harem' tour -- that woman can *sing.* Cool sets, good band, and great music. :D This past Saturday morning I startled a flock of 15+ wild turkeys outside the barn (I'd heard them pre-dawn for about a week) - their wings create much more noise than Canadian geese. Neat! Good start to a day of riding. :) Debbi It Snowed A Bit Yesterday, Yet Tomorrow We'll Be In Short-sleeves Maru __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
