That is, if you believe in a Rennaisance... The translation of Greco-roman literature from Arabic sources accounts for only a part of the literature available to Europe. Often underplayed are the scriptorums of Italy and Southern France (amongst others) that busily preserved such literature throughout the MA. Furthermore, much of the foundation for Arabic learning is of course Greco-Roman, and was gained through the contact they had with the Romans in the East (i.e. the Byzantines).
