Actually I don't think he could get elected today. Self-educated originally, but clearly pretty intelligent -- and many, MANYvoters are afraid of electing anyone brighter than they are. The anti-intellectual streak in this country is sickening.
So why did the US elect Bill Clinton, not once, but twice? He's an intellectual - bright, well educated, etc, etc.
But he hid it well :)
