I wouldn't be so certain about that last sentence John. I doubt that
anyone has yet forgotten that Saddam tried to have the presidents Dad
assasinated. There is also the sense that there was "unfinished
business" WRT Iraq War 1.
Then there are the accusations that going after Iraq was also a
distraction to take attention away from the lack of a Bin Laden
capture.

I'm not trying to argue with your points, but just pointing out just a
few things that are frequently stated to lay doubt on the presidents
motives.

I think this is Bush's biggest political liability. Circumstances
leave *a lot* of room for doubt concerning his motives. (In that
perhaps he values other things above patriotism and the good of his
country.) Bush may be being maligned unfairly, but these
circumstantial items make him look bad, regardless of the truth of the
matters.
