Why on earth would he do anything other than describe
the war as "winnable?" How many votes do you think he
would get if every time he talked about the subject he
described the war as "an effort to create less
incentive for terrorism to exist."

Most people on the list understand that the war on
terror is the latter. Many people across the US won't,
can't, or are to lazy to intellectualize it, so the
former sounds like he's "getting the job done." IOW,
Bush's message has to appeal to the broadest and
dumbest of voting Americans.

Bush is like every other politician: he does political
double-talk. To do otherwise would confuse eligible
voters that aren't equipped to intellectualize what he
says, or not interested enough beyond the TV news
soundbyte.
