I disagree.

I think the real problem is that in a country with around 150 million
voters, it is going to be impossible to pick just two people out of those
150 million, whom the remainder will consider to be the best candidates.

For example, I believe that someone on this list accused me of being a
"shill" or an "apologist" for the Bush Administration.    Uh, I make no
apology about it - President Bush is probably more in agreement with my own
views than any President I am likely to see again in my lifetime.  Of
course, I am very fortunate to have lived to see this - and understand that
it is a bit like winning the lottery.   

On the other hand, if McCain had won the 2000 primary, I would have been
absolutely miserable about the horrible choice presented - maybe even worse
than the choices we had in 1996, 1992, or 1988 - in my mind.

But that is the nature of living in a republic of 150 million - you can
please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the
people - let alone all of the time.
