Or by wind or water or natural gas or nuclear reactions or ...

Some of them pollute more than gasoline. Some less. It is possible
that large-scale electricity generation, transmission, storage and
use in an electric car is more efficient than the equivalent process
for hydrocarbon-fueled cars, but I wonder whether it is possible to
convince someone living in a country whose economy is so tied to
petrochemical production?
