2007 numbers have just come out, and they confirm a disturbing trend.  China
in 2007 emitted 2 billion tons of carbon, compared to the US's 1.75 billion
in second place.  The US actually went up 2%, so China had to go up about
10% to get that far in the lead.

The US will drop this year, with the recession and the drop in driving, and
China many not grow as fast, due to the lull in industrial production during
the Olympics.  But, their oil input is rising again, and there is no end in
sight to their coal mining, so I'll predict that they'll be up by about 5-7%
in 2008, while the US will be close to the 2005 numbers.
