It's all about having the right balance of female players vs male
players. As it is, recruiting female players from outside of the unis
is difficult. We welcome any successful suggestions/testimonials on
how to bring non-ultimate playing, non university females into our
squad and into the sport.

It seems to me that a logical way to recruit would be to do some legwork
around the places you find lots of reasonably fit ladies with time on their
hands (fill in your own joke!). As well as Universities, if you're on a
recruitment drive why not try contacting your local hospital and put up
notices in nursing areas or contacting the social co-ordinator for big local
employers (you'd be amazed how many have them)? We had a recent
(non-advertised) throw about in a local park, and had one person who had
seen a message on the mailing list bring four of her friends from the local
hospital, and we were then joined by four other girls who were there to play
touch rugby but liked the look of Ultimate and asked if they could join in.
If I actually got off my backside to do some recruitment I reckon I'd be
able to get loads of beginners down.

Of course, this leads you back to the point that Rob from Herd makes about
putting in the time and effort to coach them, but that's part of what
running a team's about, surely?
