travel above stall five always goes back to 'stalling
6.' i guess this means that if you're over stall 6,
you should just take off running with the disc like a
madman ;)

Yes, but if they do that, then don't yell 'Travel' - instead yell 'Violation' claiming they violated 401 "Spirit of the Game" which states "It is assumed that no ultimate player will intentionally violate the rules".

On violations, you don't reset the stall count, just re-start play with a check: (404.17 Stoppage of Play: A. General: Whenever an infringement of the rules or a time-out occurs, play is halted and the disc is put back into play with a check at the point of the last possession before play was stopped, except as otherwise provided by these rules. )

In all seriousness, this is actually another point that does lead to confusion at times - Violations don't reset the stall count as far as I can see - they are not Fouls ("404.13 Fouls: A. Definition: Fouls are the result of physical contact between opposing players).

So when you have a 'straddle' or a 'disc width distance' violation called agaisnt the marker (404.11 A clauses 1, 2, and 3) - you don't reset the stall count (unless there was contact which could constitute a foul).

uncontested offensive foul always continues the stall
wherever it is, even if it is above 5.
