It's a bit of toss up between some people losing out and the sport
moving forward in terms of recognition.
At Haze we lost three of our most experienced players because of the new
BUSA regs which may have cost us a Nationals spot but if we don't fall
in-line with these regulations then we cannot be a BUSA sport it is that
simple.
I think BUSA recognition is a good thing, it has certainly meant more
funding for my club. People from other institutions can't play in other
sports I'm not sure why Ultimate need be any different.
As yet I am unclear if the BUSA regulations have become standard for Uni
Ultimate and as such exclude players from events like Uni mixed which
don't carry BUSA points. If the old regulations still apply for these
tournaments then there is still plenty of opportunity for (BUSA)
ineligible players to play some ultimate. BUSA points are only awarded
for Indoor and Outdoor Nationals I believe so that's only 4 tournaments
a year.

campus universities, but is this something that we really want for the
sport? So many of us spend so much of our time promoting the sport to
just about everyone, from our university unions to a wave of recent TV
appearances, particularly by open teams. Preventing university students
from playing university tournaments restricts the sport at a grass
roots level, where many many players enter the sport. Can the exclusion
of student players really be a step forward? There are so many
institutions, especially in London, with its lack of affordable
facilities, that are too small to be able to field their own ultimate
team now, and probably for the foreseeable future with many keen
players that are going to seriously lose out, which can only be bad for
the sport.
I?m obviously against the move and would hate to see it continue if the
majority of others feel the same. No-ones voiced their opinion as yet.
Id be interested to see what others think.
At the very least could someone answer my questions in the 1st paragraph.
