Something I thought id throw out there.
When has exclusion ever been progression?
Don't we have to build before we start making moves like this? With
the sport so young, is it not it a little extreme to favor funding for
stable clubs over the expansion of the sport, and the inclusion of as
many people / teams as we can push for. Are we forgetting the grass
roots of the sport?
What about Open University students, students studying HE at a college
not at University, Foundation students and of course, student Ultimate
players with no team at their Uni. Basically they don't matter as long
as we get BUSA points...?
So now we exclude the Irish teams because they are of course, not
British Universitys yet they have been able to compete at University
Nationals every year up until this season, who cares right, as long as
we get BUSA points?
Just an idea here, but wouldnt it be more logical and fair to have
another session of events, along side the current (old school)
university events. An example would be; University Open Indoor
Qualifiers, then BUSA indoor Qualifiers. Followed by; University Open
Indoor Nationals, then BUSA University Open Indoor Nationals. As
separate events.
I think its a little drastic to start denying people the right to play
Ultimate at a competitive level, just because they chose to go to
university with no Ultimate team. So they should start their own team
right? Well not everyone is as capable of starting a team as others,
or have the interest from students at the University.
Its easy to say, well they should start their own team but progression
doesnt come by forcing it, it comes from support and hard work, people
dont go to University to start a team and look after it, they go to
study
are YOU going to come to the affected universitys and set up a team
for the fellow Ultimate players who are affected by this because then
I would stand corrected.
Apologies for the blunt nature of this email, I just woke up!
