I think whilst, not a very constructive reply, it does highlight a few points ;-) and think this may well be worth a britdisc discussion.
1. Historically these tournaments used to fall during school holidays. For some reason this pattern has changed over the past few years with more and more of the key tournaments falling inside term time. Has this process been a conscious decision to move things later in the year or a mere accident? 2. There are a large number of teachers in the Ultimate community, it seems there is a link between those who play frisbee and are drawn to teaching. It may be the relaxed lifestyle and holidays to suit your ultimate needs or it may be that the link is quite accidental. Selfishly, as a teacher, I would like tournaments to fall in times when holidays are possible, but understand my career path has certain positives and negatives. My school is fairly understanding but I haven't really pushed them too far yet. But... 3. ...the future of Ultimate is moving in a younger direction. University Ultimate has developed into a for BUCS event and the focus is being moved onto a younger generation. Having tournaments like this during term time makes it harder for school children to attend, not only do they have to miss school but the main contact (i.e. the teacher, for parents etc.) is tied up at work as well. 4. ...university students would also find it easier to attend these tournaments if they did not fall in term time.
