Hello Tom,

I've seen that You modified sh/make_deb.sh script to check for binaries in the 
system (as cmake) installed out of the package-system.
Let me tell You that IMHO this is a bad idea. If the default "cmake" version 
into Your system is below than brlcad request, then You can compile and build a 
personalized package with the needed cmake version for Your system.
This may sound a bit complicated but it isn't. I've build my own cmake v.2.8.3 
deb package for Ubuntu 10.04
