Deepak and other GSoC applicants,

I am more than happy to share specific proposal feedback for any student
(accepted or rejected) on your proposal if you are interested. I will respond
to any feedback requests in private, unless you specifically state otherwise
that you'd like the feedback and any following discussion to be public. All
you have to do is ask (if you've already asked, I will be responding ASAP).

We really do appreciate the hard efforts from all of our GSoC applicants this
year. It was a very competitive selection process as we decided to only accept
7 students this year (and it was originally going to be just 5). The quality
of proposals and sustained interaction was great to see.

For many of you, this may be your first exposure to open source software
development. While some of you were not able to be selected, you should know
that we are still interested in working with you. GSoC merely facilitates
participation in open source, but you can always get involved if you so desire.

Getting involved and already *being* involved with an open source project not
only greatly increases your chances of being selected for GSoC, but it is a
FANTASTIC volunteer activity to put on your resumé. Many of our current and
past contributors have jobs because of participating in open source. It
demonstrates a passion for software development.

How to get involved? Work on something that really interests you. It could be
something simple from our GCI open tasks page [1] or something more involved
[2]. It could be code cleanup [3] so you can explore.

Whatever it is, do it because you enjoy it. Happy coding!

Cheers!
Sean
