Note that there is also some code duplication with some of the sp_hook functions. There is already one such function in libbu (bu_mm_cvt) . Is that the right place to have them since they would not be private then? If that is the place to have them, perhaps all of them should be in their own file (say, sp_hook_funcs.c). But then bu.h will continue to grow (is it time for another include/subdir?).
