As Jacob mentioned, we have our own dedicated server and that is where all of 
our web development GSoC projects will need to get set up (over the next couple 
weeks, will be in touch individually).  So we fully control the environment.

We can make just about anything work, but our biggest concerns will be how 
complex a given solution is in the long-term, how it's maintained, how security 
patches are addressed, who is responsible for it, etc.  If a new technology is 
going to be introduced (such as MongoDB), someone will just need to justify why 
they're not using existing infrastructure and address the long-term maintenance 
concerns.  This is usually best as an interactive discussion over IRC.
